DIU System for Electric RTG ERTG
This channel is for people who are working in container handling terminals and dealing with cranes maintenance. The first video in Cranes Technology channel is explaining DIU system or Drive In Unit. Instead of the conventional method for feeding an RTG with electric power it needs using a Gen-Set as a main and only source of power, the ERTG uses the DIU (Drive in Unit) to feed an ERTG with a constant and fixed source of power. This system eliminates the headache of using the Gen-Set as a source of power. The Gen-Set system has a lot of problems related to engine maintenance and onsite breakdowns. - The system consists of 3 main parts: 1- Vertical Unit 2- Horizontal Unit 3- Current Collecting Unit The most important information when dealing with DIU faults is to know where and how each sensor in the system works. Below is a list of all sensors used in the system, followed by a description of each sensor. 1- Magnetic Switch 1. 2- Magnetic Switch 2. 3- Laser Sensor. 4- Horizontal Unit Touched. 5- Vertical Unit Touched. 6- Vertical Unit Lifted. 7- Horizontal Unit in. 8- Vertical Unit Bottom. 9- Sensor Bearing. 1- Magnetic Switch 1&2 The working area along the steel structure is divided into zones of operation. Sensors signals differ according to each zone and consequently the action taken by the control system. Magnetic switch 1&2 are together responsible for defining the zone of operation. 2- Laser Sensor For sake of protecting the current collector unit from crushing with the steel structure, a laser sensor is used for measuring the distance to the steel structure. In case of distance is too near to the structure, unit extending will be prevented. 3- Horizontal Unit Touched This sensor is responsible for giving a signal to the controller when the current collector unit touches the steel structure. This means that no more horizontal movement is needed. 4- Vertical Unit Touched Vertical unit touched sensor is performing the same function of the horizontal unit touched sensor but for the vertical movement. It signals the sense of the steel structure to the controller to stop the vertical movement. 5- Vertical Unit Lifted For the vertical unit to move, it must be unlocked. Vertical unit lifted sensor must be activated so that vertical unit can extend. 6- Horizontal Unit in This sensor is used to detect if the horizontal unit is in or out. 7- Vertical Unit Bottom This sensor detects when vertical unit reaches its base position ¨Park position¨ when arm is retracted.
